Problem (top): fire today at a construction site next to the local shopping mall
Solution (bottom): ONE mall employee in a black business suit with a garden hose
Funny thing about this country; MOST establishments are WAY overstaffed. It is downright awkward going into most department stores, as there are so many employees there to help you, you are literally followed everywhere you go. There are people on every isle to “help” you at every turn. If you so much as look at an item, an attendant will be in your face asking if you have questions/need help/understand the product.
However, in other situations, they are way understaffed. Often going into banks, for instance, there will be piles of people waiting in one line, while several windows go unmanned. Can be extraordinarily frustrating.
I took this picture today as I was walking into a mall where I often go to get work done in a coffeehouse.
There was a fire in a construction site directly beside the mall. There were at least 30 people standing around just watching the fire blaze, while one solitary worker of the mall was fighting the fire. He was in a business suit and he was armed only with a common garden hose.
Just another day in living in East Asia!
